In 2009, after the Manitoba Summer Games softball team of 2008 won silver, a group of parents decided to start an A program for the Eastman region with a core of players from the games team. The program grew slowly at first.

After the 2012 Manitoba Summer Games, another parent/community group began to work at forming teams in more age categories. In 2015, besides an adult team, the Eastman organization was able to field a team in all four minor categories (U12, U14, U16, U19).

The Eastman Wildcats operate with the following priorities:

  • To promote and develop softball throughout the Eastman region by offering clinics in skills and pitching development in collaboration with the South-East Girls Softball League and its member communities.

  • To provide an opportunity for softball players to represent the Eastman region in all competitive categories.

  • To offer a program that includes travel tournaments to compete at the highest level of female softball.

  • To develop softball coaches, managers and instructors within the region for the future success of softball in the Eastman region.

  • To demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic, good sportsmanship and a love of sport in all aspects of teaching, spectating and playing softball.
